Memorial Day 2022

"Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it.
It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it."
– Unknown

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I worked for all my life
And I had to start again
With just my children and my wife

I thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea

From Detroit down to Houston
And New York to L.A.
Where's pride in every American heart
And it's time we stand and say

That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Veterans Day 2018

Today and every day, I thank all Veterans for their service, their sacrifice and for freedom.
In honor and in memory of my son. I am thankful for his time in the Army.
Colt loved serving his country.

September 11, 2001 - We Remember

“If we learn nothing else from this tragedy,
we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.”
—Sandy Dahl, wife of Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl

“Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America,
there will be no forgetting September the 11th.
We will remember every rescuer who died in honor.
We will remember every family that lives in grief.
We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children.”
—former President George W. Bush

09-11-2001 - We Will Never Forget

After sixteen years, it is still hard to believe this horrible day happened.
So many lives lost, so many families ripped apart at the seams.
It just seems so unreal.  But sadly, it is real and WE WILL NEVER FORGET
______________________________________

A sad day for America
As rejoicing rang from hell,
Awakening a mighty giant
On the day the towers fell.

Our hearts were saddened
As we watched this vicious act unfold,
As innocence met a fiery death
And seeds of war were sowed.

Shouts rang out from the middle east
That Allah has done his good
But no god joys in faultless deaths
Through certain cowards could.

America just sort of glides along,
But don't step on her toes ...
For her belief in right and justice
Will stomp out freedom's foes.

Armed Forces Day 2017

“It is fitting and proper that we devote one day each year to paying
special tribute to those whose constancy and courage constitute
one of the bulwarks guarding the freedom of this nation
and the peace of the free world.”
-President Dwight D. Eisenhower
