Thursday Threesome: Daylight Savings Time
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
www.othersideofglenroad.org/backporch/index.php
____________________________________________________
Onesome: Daylight-- Savings Time is up here in the US this weekend. Ready? Set? Go? ...or will you just wake up and worry about it sometime Sunday? I will just wake up and worry about it on Sunday. Or maybe even set my clocks before going to bed...but I doubt it.
Twosome: Savings--? Hey, do you use coupons when you shop? ...and do you go looking for them online?
I don't really like to use coupons any more. Coupons are such as hassle and it seems like the cashier always screws up when I use them.
Threesome: Time-- to batten down the hatches where you are? They've had snow in Ohio and Ottawa; and we may not hit the 80's this weekend in CaliLand: is Winter approaching for you?
I have not prepared for winter yet. It has been a little cooler here in Missouri but nothing too horrible. I have not even used my heat yet but I probably should have for a few days.

Thursday Threesome: Technology Marches On
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
www.othersideofglenroad.org/backporch/index.php
____________________________________________________
Onesome: Just-- the Cell Phone? ...and no land line? How does it pencil out for you: do you need to have both a cell phone and a home phone in your life? How about down the road? Do you see yourself disconnecting from the hard-wired connection?
Currently I only have a cell phone. I shut off our land line at home awhile back because it was an unneeded expense. I might reconnect it in the future but I doubt it. I prefer to use my cell phone.
Twosome: Checking-- accounts, a thing of the past or something that will be around for a while? I'm wondering how much we're coming around to debit cards and online payments...
I still have a checking account but I don't write many checks from it (maybe 3 or 4 a month at the most). I prefer to do online payments or pay with my debit or credit cards.
Threesome: In-- the same vein: how about the net itself? If you're on it for basic communications then what happens when your handheld device becomes your email/chat/and voice communication system? Do you bail from the hardwired home links when wifi becomes just a little more ubiquitous? ...and before you answer, check in with any teen you see walking down the street with their head in the Net!
I don't use my cell phone for email or for surfing the web. I use it to send text messages now and then and to make/take phone calls. I use my desktop and laptop for instant messaging, email, Ventrillo and other ways to communicate with the ones I care about.

Thursday Threesome: Ninja Training
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"

____________________________________________________
Onesome: Dodge--? ...as in "Get outa'? Okay, so tomorrow is Friday: where would you go to "get out of Dodge" for a day (if you could, that is)? If it was only for one day then I would like to go to Branson, Missouri and see the new Titanic Museum. I would love to see all the artifacts from the ship. If I was able to get away for three or more days then I would like to go to Wisconsin.
Twosome: Parry--? What's your best comeback? ...and yeah, "Oh, yeah?" doesn't count
Threesome: Block-- Parties: do you have them? Apartment get togethers count too. Oh, heck, even dorm keggers, -eh?

Thursday Threesome: Your Mileage May Vary
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
www.othersideofglenroad.org/backporch/index.php
PLEASE NOTE: This is from Dan's October 2, 2008 post. I did not see one posted for today.
Onesome: Your-- ability to see beyond the horizon is limited only by your imagination. Discuss
Hummm....let me think about that. My imagination needs time to run away from me.
Twosome: mileage may-- be lower for some drivers due to variables like under-inflated tires or speeding up to get to the next red light. Hmmm... Any tips out there for those trying to stretch their fuel dollars?
Don't go anywhere unless you have too.
Threesome: Vary-- this, vary that, and pretty soon you've broken up a routine. Here's one: what routine of yours really needs to have a little variation introduced? (I'll exclude changing the flavor of your Friday evening ice cream snack; while a little change may be good, radical events should be planned out!)
I need a new job in Wisconsin! That will totally break all my routines!

Thursday Threesome: Yellow Brick Road
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
www.othersideofglenroad.org/backporch/index.php
Onesome: "Goodbye,--Norma Jean"? Hmmm.... Best song ever? ...or did he top himself when he adapted it for Princess Diana? I think it was better in its original form. Adapting it for Princess Diana made is special but it seemed to make it almost too specific to her.
Twosome: Yellow--lights: run 'em or slam on the brakes? ...or do you plan your speed so you never hit them yellow? ...or maybe, "What yellow light, Officer?"
Threesome: Brick Road--s and flying monkeys? Okay, did those things just creep you out? ...or were you one of those people who really, really, really wanted one for a pet? Just askin'...

Thursday Threesome: Connectivity
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
www.othersideofglenroad.org/backporch/index.php
Onesome: Loss-- of appetite? Have you ever been invited to an event where the food just was too terrible to even pretend to like? What was your solution? ...I mean, besides holding out for a burger on the way home
Not that I can remember.
Twosome: of-- the last three days, we've lost Net access in Central CaliLand most of the time. I'm thinking it has to do with the lack of a State budget out here. Do you have long periods of disconnect where you are?
Threesome: Connectivity:--, addiction or necessity? Is the Net essential to your daily activities (yes, work counts!)? ...or would you even notice if someone cut the wire? Both. It is necessary for work and for keeping in touch with family and friends. It is an addiction for gaming.

Thursday Threesome: Memories
::Memories from the Past::
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
Onesome: Memories from-- a few years back: what were you doing on 9-11? I had driven my children to school and was at home trying to take a nap. My sister-in-law came in a little after 9:00am and woke me. She and I spent the morning watching the news. We also picked up our kids early from school and came back home to watch the news the rest of the day/night. My brother was over the road driving at the time and Steve was at work on Post. Post was locked down.
Twosome: the-- thought occurs: Should this be a holiday? ...or perhaps a day of remembrance with a moment of silence nationwide? I think it should be a Day of Remembrance. Everyone should remember it as they see fit.
Threesome: Past-- 'days that will live in infamy': do you recall any other days of tragedy that have a placeholder on your mental calendar? I have several days of tragedy marked on my mental calendar but they are mostly personal. Such as my mom's death, dad's death and my grandparents' deaths.

Thursday Threesome - Two Weeks
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
___________________________________________________________________
Onesome: Greenwaste-- containers: we're using full sized 'toters' (those cans the trunks can automatically dump); are you using anything special in your city? Does anyplace in the US still let you burn leaves in the Autumn? The town I currently live in does not have special containers for waste/recycling. Yes, there are places in the USA that allow us to burn our leaves.
Twosome: Disposal-- systems for electronics: out here in CaliLand you just can't 'dump' the old computer or stereo with the trash; they need to go to an 'electronics recycling center'. Do have anything like that where you are? Not that I am aware of.
Threesome: Facility--, facilitate, faculty, faculties... Do you ever get any of those a little mixed up? Just curious...No, not really.
Onesome: The-- best part of the pudding? I'm teaching the youngest to leave his pudding in the 'fridge for a couple of days (much to his mother's chagrin
I dont usually allow it to skim over. I remember my mom use to do that and I would get upset because I wanted my pudding as soon as it was ready.
Twosome: end of-- da' road? Just for the fun of it, is there a road in your area that you're pretty sure 'goes nowhere' and just ends there? No, but that would be cool! LOL I could use it to hide from the "real world".
Threesome: Summer-- is over? Really? Just because it's Labor Day? Heck, the kids have been back in school for a week or two; the weather hasn't gotten any cooler out here; and the trees haven't even thought about turning. ...at least where I am: how about at your place?
The weather has been changing here in Missouri, USA. It is starting to get a "fall feel" to it.

Thursday Threesome: Friends
::"You find out who your Friends are..."::
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
Onesome: You find out-- all sorts of interesting stuff here on the net. How's about serving up a factoid or site link you've found lately that you are pretty sure no one but you found interesting
Twosome: who your-- information sources are can be interesting: who/what are you looking to for information this political season? I surf the Internet (CNN, MSNBC, Fox) or watch television to get information on this years political stuff. I don't do it often because I find politics to be rather boring.
Threesome: Friends are-- the people who bail you out when you need it? ...or maybe they're the ones waiting in line after you to use the phone looking for bail saying, "Man, that was fun!"? My two best friends (NJ and Johnny) would be waiting in line after me to use the phone looking for bail :) They have stood by me and my family through thick and thin and I will/would do the same for them.

Thursday Threesome: Leggo' My Eggos!
Hosted by Dan at The Back Porch
Onesome: Leggo'-- of that! Okay, is there something (sure, food works!) that shows up from time to time that you'd really like to have and someone else usually makes a grab for it? I'm thinking Christmas is coming and maybe those 'special' cookies need to be planned for...Nothing that I can think of right now. I usually hide the treats that I want to eat OR I eat them as soon as I get them LOL
Twosome: my-- how time flies: Back to School sales are already over and I'm seeing Thanksgiving stuff in the stores! Whaddayathink: are you ready for Summertime to be over and done with?
In a way I am glad summer is almost over because it has been so hot. I wish the temperatures would stay around 70 degrees all year long and the trees would always be green! The grayness of winter annoys me and I always look forward to Spring and Summer.
Threesome: Eggos-- and the like: do you have a frozen food you keep around just because you actually like the darned thing? Ice Cream, TV Dinners, Pot Pies, and meatballs.
Please visit Dan and other participants at "The Thursday Threesome"!

Thursday Threesome: Terms of Use
Hosted by Dan at "The Back Porch"
Onesome: Terms-- of endearment: do you have any you particularly like to use? How about one others use that just grates on you
Twosome: of-- the several types of access to the Internet, which one do you use? Dialup, DSL, Broadband, WiFi? Just how connected are you? At work we are connected via DSL but at home I have broadband and I love it.
Threesome: Use--less labels: seen any good ones lately? You know, the ones that were issued by the Department of Redundancy Department. ...or maybe by the Darwin Awards Review Committee. I'm thinking this crowd probably has some real winners...
"Do not use as ear plugs." -- On a package of silly putty.
"No small children." -- On a laundromat triple washer.

Thursday Threesome: Tech Time
Hosted by Dan at The Back Porch
Onesome: Toys--? Any new tech toys at your place? No? What would you like to have that is all sorts of "new and improved" and just hard to live without? We have not purchased anything new for the office. I also have not gotten anything new at home. There isn't really anything that I want or need. The one thing that is hard to live without is the computer and Internet.
Twosome: 'r-- you ready for school to be in session again? Good grief, it's only July, but the Back to School sales have been in place for a few weeks now. Do you have a trinket you're planning on buying for yourself or the kids for this next year? A new computer would be nice but I don't see that happening anytime in the near future...maybe in a year or so.
Threesome: Us--? Nah, nothing fancy going on on this blog space. How about you: any changes planned on your site in the upcoming months? I have been working rather slowly on updating my main web site but lately I just have not been in the mood to work on it. I guess I need to get back into it.

Thursday Threesome: Guys and Dolls
Hosted by Dan at The Back Porch
Onesome: Guys-- do the darnedest things, -right? What's the darnedest thing you've had a male acquaintance do that you just know a gal would never even think of? (Okay, girls, toilet seats do not count on this one
Twosome: and-- to turn it around, what's the darnedest thing you've had a female acquaintance do that you just know a guy would never even think of? (Okay, guys, that hair-flip move doesn't count either...)
Threesome: Doll--ing yourself up? What is your idea of dress-up? Hmmm... Let's go with Summer wear for now!
July 10, 2008
Thursday Threesome: Filling Out Forms
Hosted by Dan at The Back Porch
Onesome: Filling-- the ol' fuel tank is getting to be real interesting lately... What are gas prices doing in your area this Summer? Currently, the lowest grade gas is $3.97 per gallon. I think diesel is $4.70 per gallon.
Twosome: Out- and about and you're out of cash: the ATM or the store for a few bucks over on the check? Oh! ...and debit or credit? ...or are you a 'cash economy' person? I hardly ever carry cash on me so if I actually need cash I will go to an ATM to get it. I prefer to use my debit card as much as possible and save the credit card for big expenses and emergencies.
Threesome: Forms-- can be a real pain! Do you have a 'favorite' you dislike even to think about? I don't think tax forms are so hard to fill out so I would not have listed that one. I think the biggest pain when it comes to filling out forms are job applications! I wish all companies just took a nice, neat resume.

Thursday Threesome: Summer in the City
Hosted by Dan at The Back Porch
Onesome: "Summer--time and the living is easy"... Are you taking it easy at all this Summer? ...or are you grinding along day by day with no "days off" planned? I am just grinding along day by day. The only days off from work that I have planned are holidays...like tomorrow :). I might take a few days off towards the end of summer just so I can enjoy the weather before winter.
Twosome: in the- Onesome is the first line from a song that was taken from a lullaby. Yeah, how about that, Laurie! Do you recognize it or the play it is taken from? It is from a play? I thought is was something by Janis Joplin.
Threesome: City-- lights? Fireworks tomorrow for you? Do you have a local show to attend? ...or do you kick back with sparklers and and a fountain or two? Have a safe and fun 4th, gang! We will be attending the local fireworks show. I doubt that we will be setting off any fireworks at home this year. We really need to move somewhere that it is safe to set off fireworks.

Thursday Threesome: Guts and Determination
Onesome: "Guts"-- sometimes can determine the outcome: whoever digs in and plays through the injuries and circumstances. What is your favorite memory of someone or a team driving past adversity to win the big one? I really cannot think of anything right now. Unless I quote a movie or the news :)
Twosome: ...and-- what brought that question on? The local team won the College World Series last night, winning every elimination game possible to advance as the lowest seed ever to win a National Title. No question, just kudos to them. Okay, easy question: did you hear anything about the games where you are?
It depends on what games. We get local, state and national news here in Missouri, USA. It usually covers sports and teams. I read more about games online though...better coverage.
Threesome: Determination-- helps in life: what have you accomplished through sheer determination that will remain with you as a bright spot in your life? When I graduated High School I had a one month old baby. Then as a single parent, I have gotten an Associate's Degree and Bachelor's Degree. And I plan on getting a Master's Degree soon.

Thursday Threesome: Stating the Obvious
Hosted by Dan at The Back Porch
Onesome: Stating-- things clearly? In your job/vocation/school do you like to have everything spelled out in detail? ...or are you one of those people who does better with broad guidelines and a free rein?
In most cases I prefer to have broad guidelines and a free rein. I learn things quickly on my own. When someone spells everything out for me I get frustrated and mess up often.
Twosome: the-- food I miss the most is? (loaded question, but hey
Threesome: Obvious-- to some, but not to others: what is something that seems obvious to you but others seem to miss? ...or how about something you just don't 'get'?

Thursday Threesome: Work Hard and Play Hard
Hosted by Dan at The Back Porch
www.othersideofglenroad.org/backporch/index.php
Onesome: Work?-- Work! Summer jobs: how about the worst one you've ever had! ...or maybe the most interesting one? I worked in an factory that made tarps for "hide-a-beds". The factory was hot, crowed and at times very overbearing to work in. I ended up quiting after two week because I could not handle it.
Twosome: "Hard" and-- "Tight"? Words take on new meanings all the time. ...used to be both those words were compliments; now it appears "sick" is a good thing (according to the lexicon of the local fourteen year-old). What have you heard lately that took you a minute to figure out. I mean, like "bad" is still "good", right? Tight, man!
The latest slang word I have learned is Splorf! LOL it even looks funny when I type it. According to Urban Dictionary..."Splorf is Intransitive verb: to eject a liquid from the mouth (and/or nose) with considerable force as a result of uncontrollable laughter. A good splorf is the result of a solid punchline, comment or funny action delivered with impeccable timing.
Threesome: Play Hard?-- What is your idea of "Summer Fun"? ...and no, walking on the beach doesn't count for this one! My idea of Summer Fun is sitting around in the air conditioner, sipping fresh lemonade or sweet iced tea. I don't like being outside in the heat and I hate to sweat!
