For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

The Thanksgiving Song by Adam Sandler

"The Thanksgiving Song"

"They wanna hear the thanksgiving song! All right.."
"This is uhh, This is the Thanksgiving Song"
"I hope you enjoy it."

[Starts playing]
Love to eat turkey
Love to eat turkey

[Shout from Crowd:] "I love you Adam!"
[Adam Sandler:] "Ohhh, I love you!"
Love to eat turkey
'Cause it's good
Love to eat turkey
Like a good boy should
'Cause it's turkey to eat
So good

[Adam Sandler:] "That clappin's messing my head up man. I appreciate it.
But I was trying to think of the next line and all I hear is clapping.
Here we go... Thanks anyways"

Turkey for me
Turkey for you
Let's eat the turkey
In my big brown shoe
Love to eat the turkey
At the table
I once saw a movie
With Betty Grable
Eat that turkey
All night long
Fifty million Elvis fans
Can't be wrong
Turkey lurkey doo and
Turkey lurkey dap
I eat that turkey
Then I take a nap

Thanksgiving is a special night
Jimmy Walker used to say Dynomite
That's right
Turkey with gravy and cranberry
Can't believe the Mets traded Darryl Strawberry
Turkey for you and
Turkey for me
Can't believe Tyson
Gave that girl V.D.

White meat, dark meat
You just can't lose
I fell off my moped
And I got a bruise
Turkey in the oven
And the buns in the toaster
I'll never take down
My Cheryl Tiegs poster
Wrap the turkey up
In aluminum foil
My brother likes to masturbate
With baby oil
Turkey and sweet potato pie
Sammy Davis Jr.
Only had one eye

Turkey for the girls and
Turkey for the boys
My favorite kind of pants
Are corduroys
Gobble gobble goo and
Gobble gobble gickel
I wish turkey
Only cost a nickel
Oh I love turkey on Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Sunday Stealing: Thanksgiving Meme

This week's Sunday Stealing comes from the archives!

1. Are you celebrating Thanksgiving at home or elsewhere this year? With whom will you spend Thanksgiving Day?

I plan on celebrating Thanksgiving at my in-law's house.  My husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law will be there.

2. What do you have for breakfast on Thanksgiving?

For breakfast I will be having an apple and a cappuccino.

3. Do you go to a Thanksgiving parade or watch one on TV?

I watch the parade on TV each year.  I am too lazy to go to one.

4. Do you serve appetizers, lunch, or snacks during the day?

I serve snacks if I am hosting and if I go to someone's house I take a snack.

5. What do you wear on Thanksgiving?

I wear normal everyday clothes...nothing special.

6. What's your Thanksgiving table like -- do you use special plates/silver/glasses, etc? Do you have a centerpiece? A color scheme? Candles?

No need for a color scheme.  But I do like china and nice silverware and a pretty centerpiece.

7. Do you serve buffet-style or family-style? What do you have to drink?

A sit down, family style dinner with water for me to drink.

8. Once you're at the table, do you say grace or a toast or does everyone go around and say what they're thankful for?

We say grace.

9. Do you have dessert right after the main meal or later on?

It depends on how full everyone is.  Dessert is usually an hour or so later if needed.

10. What do you do with your leftovers?

I eat the leftovers that night and for the next day or two.

Camera Critters: Shelby Selfies

Camera Critters
Yesterday, we took Shelby to the vet to get her nails trimmed.
Then we went to my mother-in-laws house so Shelby could visit with Grandma.
On the way home, we stopped at the comic book store.  While the hubby was inside
Shelby and I sat in the Jeep and took selfies.  Here are two that I could get her to
sit still for.  Shelby is such a sweet dog.  Hard to believe she is 10 years old already.

God Made A Dog

So God Made A Dog

And on the 9th Day
God looked down on his wide eyed children and said they need a companion
So God made a Dog

God said I need somebody to wake up and give kisses, pee on a tree, sleep all day, wake up again, give more kisses, and then stay up till midnight basking in the glow of the television set.

So God made a Dog

God said I need somebody willing to sit, then stay, then roll over then with no ego or complaint dress in hats they do not need and costumes they do not understand. I need somebody who can break wind without a first thought or second thought. Who can chase tails, sniff crotches, fetch sticks and lift spirits with a lick. Somebody no matter what you didn't do, or couldn't take, or didn’t win, or couldn't make will love you without judgment just the same.

So God made a Dog

God said I need somebody strong enough to pull sleds and find bombs, yet gentle enough to love babies and lead the blind. Somebody who will spend all day on a couch with the resting head and supportive eyes to lift the spirits of a broken heart.

So God made a Dog

It had to be somebody who would remain patient and loyal even thru loneliness. Somebody to care, cuddle, snuggle and nuzzle, and cheer and charm and snore and slobber and eat the trash and chase the squirrels. Somebody who would bring a family together with selflessness of an open heart. Somebody who would bark, and then pant, and then reply with the rapid wag of tail when their best friend says lets go for a ride in the car.

So God made a Dog

God said I need somebody who would stand at your side when the world around you collapses. Somebody to lie next to you during the long nights of pain and sorrow when it hurts to move, or talk, or think, or be. Somebody to stand guard, play games, snore for hours, and repeat as needed. Somebody to give you strength when you have none of your own. Somebody to fight when you have no fight left, to hold onto your soul as if it were their favorite toy, playing tug of war to keep you in this world. Somebody to be your companion and guide in this world and the next. Somebody to wait for you on the other side or stand guard in your absence until they can join you for eternity.

So God made a Dog

Veterans Day 2014

Today is the day we honor,
the noble and the brave,
the men and woman who dedicated their lives,
and the sacrifices that they have made.

When America had an urgent need,
they were the first to raise their hand,
without thinking twice about it,
they were proud to take a stand.

Some came back from war with battle scars,
others in flagged draped coffins,
even though their flesh may have left,
their spirits will never be forgotten.

They unselfishly and knowingly,
put their lives on the line,
so when you see a veteran, thank them,
cause without them, freedom would have died.

Puppies!!!!!! in "Something Blue" By Neil Diamond

Not even Neil Diamond can resist puppies!! :)
The pups in this are shelter pups from the Colorado Animal Rescue!
"Something Blue"

I came with a little bit of sorrow
Was maybe a bit too sad
But one day rolled into tomorrow
And you gave me the best you had
That's how we started together
And how together we're gonna stay

You taught me a little 'bout good times
I fought through a little bit of rain
You brought me a part of your sunshine
You took in the heart of my pain
It wasn't supposed to happen
But then you happened to come my way

Every night, every day
Every word that you say made it so
Every thought that I had
Said I ought to be glad. Now I know

You showed what a little bit of love can do
You opened my eyes and a light came through
Took me to a place that I never knew
Goodbye to my little bit of something blue

You came and you found me wanting
And I'm saying that I'm in your debt
Some days were a little bit daunting
Some days I'd rather forget
You changed my life for the better
And I know I'd better be good to you

Every night, every day
Every word that you say made it so
Every thought that I had
Said I ought to be glad. Now I know

You showed what a little bit of love can do
You opened my eyes and a light came through
Took me to a place that I never knew
So long to my little bit of something blue

It wasn't supposed to happen
But then you happened to come my way

Every night, every day
Every word that you say made it so
Every thought that I had
Said I ought to be glad. Now I know

You showed what a little bit of love can do
You opened my eyes and a light came through
Took me to a place that I never knew
Goodbye to my little bit of something blue

Farewell to my little bit of something blue.

Dona Nobis Pacem 2014

"What does peace mean to me?" seems like such a easy question to answer.  But those answers can become quite complex but are all very meaningful to me.  Here are just a few of my answers:

1. Peace to me is the reassuring, calm and gentle presence of my dog by side and her unconditional love.

2. Peace is knowing that my children and my loved ones are safe.

3. Peace is being accepted and loved for who I am and not for whom someone else wants me to be.

4. Peace is a world without child abuse and animal abuse.

5. Peace is about seeking forgiveness rather than seeking revenge.

My list goes on and on.  The bottom line is, I want the world I live in to be a peaceful world. And I want my children, grandchildren and children for many years to come to live in a peaceful world.

What does peace mean to you?
