Memorial Day 2021

“This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn’t come home.
This is not Veterans Day, it’s not a celebration,
it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom.”
~Tamra Bolton

Sunday Stealing: Journal Buddies

This week's Sunday Stealing was stolen from Journal Buddies.
1. When do you feel the world will stop?

My world will stop the day I die.  Everyone's world ends the day they day.

2. What is your personal motto?

"There are very few kind people left in this world, be one of them."  I use to tell my children this every day.  Now, I tell myself every day.

3. What is the greatest gift you ever received?

My children.

4. Who is a leader who inspires you?

My coworker, Megan.

5. What irrationally annoys you more than anything else?

Small talk. I consider small talk to be "fluff".  I hate fluff.

6. What small thing can always bring you a bit of joy?

The scent of fresh lilacs.

7. What is your favorite thing to do on a lazy day?

Play video games, or nap....or both.

8. How often do you take risks?

Hardly ever.

9. Write about your happiest memory:

The birth of my children.

10. How long do you think it will be before we see a female president?

Twenty years or so from now....maybe longer.

11. Do you think it’s important to be part of a community? Why? Why not?

I think it is important to be part of a community, because doing so helps you create a support system to help those in need.

12. What piece of modern technology are you most grateful to have.

Cell phones.  Having a cell phone with me at all times gives me a peace of mind.

13. Do you feel anonymous on line?

I did when I first started using the internet, but that did not last very long.  There are so many ways to find out who someone is nowadays.  Why hide who you are?

14. What is something you’ve always wanted to try but have never gotten around to.

Parasailing.

15. What would life be like without the internet?

Life would be a bit boring without the internet.

To Honor You: In Memory of Colt

In memory of Richard Colt Hazlett.
To honor you, I get up everyday and take a breath,
and start another day without you in it.

To honor you, I laugh and love with those who knew your smile,
and the way your eyes twinkled with mischief and secret knowledge.

To honor you, I take the time to appreciate everyone I love,
I know now there is no guarantee of days or hours spent in their presence.

To honor you, I listen to music you would have liked,
and sing at the top of my lungs, with the windows rolled down.

To honor you, I take chances, say what I feel,
hold nothing back, risk making a fool of myself, dance every dance.

You were my light, my heart, my gift of love, from the very highest source.

So everyday, I vow to make a difference, share a smile, live, laugh and love.

Now I live for us both, so all I do, I do to honor you.

Waiting for Company

Today, Riley's Aunt Tami, Uncle Mike and fur cousin Ruby
came for a visit. When I told Riley they were coming she
jumped up in the chair to watch for them.
I got tired of sitting in the house so I went out onto
the front porch to sit and watch the rain.
Riley was being a wild child but was allowed to
come outside to the "fenced in" side of the porch.
Our company came over not long after this photo was taken.
It was such a great visit.

Riley Refused To Take Responsibility

I told Riley to come into my bedroom and tell me why there are “baby guts” on my bed.
I don’t think she is taking responsibility for it!

Riley is outside today enjoying the warmer temperatures
and decided to relax on one of our patio chairs.
At first the was just standing on the pillow in the chair...

Riley And The Seahorse

Today, FedEx delivered a plush seahorse for Riley.
Her daddy was able to get a photo of Riley and the seahorse before Riley had a chance to beat it up.
15ish minutes after this photo, Riley had the squeaker out and some of the stuffing.
So, she and I went outside to play. Well, actually, Riley played and I filmed her....
