Sunday Stealing: Halloween

1. What is the worst treat to get when trick-or-treating? Toothpaste, toothbrush, anything non-candy.

2. What character from any horror film would you most like to play?  None of them.  I don't mind watching horror films but I do not want to be in one...life is enough of a horror film.

3. Would you rather be a zombie, alien, or psycho? (why) I would rather be an alien so I can leave Earth and find my home planet.

4. How many Halloween, Friday the 13th, or Nightmare on Elm Street movies combined do you have on dvd? None.  I have only a handful of DVD's because with today's technology and ways to watch movies I don't need a ton of DVD's.

5. What is the scariest movie you have ever seen? The original Paranormal Activity.

6. Lamest costume you have worn on Halloween? A white sheet with two holes cut into it for eyes....it was terrible.

7. Favorite Halloween treat? Chocolate

8. Friendly-faced jack o’lantern or scary one? Friendly

9. Have you ever had nightmares about a scary movie character chasing you? I am sure I have.  I just don't remember the dreams.

10. Best thing about Halloween? All the candy.

11. Strangest Halloween custom you’ve heard of? None that I can think of.

12. Person in your family who most likes Halloween (not counting yourself)?  Hummm....I am not sure.

13. Are you superstitious? If so, name at least one superstition of yours. I don't walk under ladders because it is bad luck.

14. What's your best Halloween memory? No Halloween's stand out to be as a best memory.

15. At what age were you allowed to go trick-or-treating by yourself? We lived in the country so we never went trick or treating by ourself.  Mom and Dad went with us every year.

National Chocolate Day 2016

National Chocolate Day is observed annually on October 28. While there are many specific chocolate related holidays throughout the year, National Chocolate Day celebrates all things chocolate. As America’s favorite flavor, chocolate is well deserving of its own day of honor and celebration. (Some sources designate July 7 or December 28 as Chocolate Day or International Chocolate Day.)

Red Ribbon Campaign Week Start Tomorrow

The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week, which is held October 23rd - October 31st each year.
Red Ribbon Week is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. Show your personal commitment to a drug-free lifestyle through the symbol of the Red Ribbon, October 23 - 31st.

The Red Ribbon Campaign was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. This began the continuing tradition of displaying Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a DRUG - FREE AMERICA.

National Family Partnership is the sponsor of the National Red Ribbon Week®
Celebration and they are helping citizens across the country come together to keep children, families and communities safe, healthy and drug-free, through parent training, networking and sponsoring the National Red Ribbon Campaign.

A theme unifies each year’s campaign and helps to broadcast one message, creating a tipping point to change behavior. The 2016 National Red Ribbon Week Theme is: "YOLO. Be Drug Free." The theme was created by Kristopher "Jeremiah" Oakes and Logan Brehm, sixth graders at Claysburg-Kimmel Elementary School in Claysburg, Pennsylvania.

World Mental Health Day 2016

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

World Mental Health Day seeks to raise awareness of mental health illnesses while educating the population and mobilizing efforts to support mental health. Mental health, which includes a person's emotional, psychological and social well-being, has become increasingly important in recent decades as an estimated 350 million people worldwide suffer from depression.

In 1992, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) established World Mental Health Day in an effort to promote education and advocate for mental health sufferers. The Foundation aims to provide further awareness and assistance for those suffering from a wide range of mental disorders in the hopes of saving lives and increasing quality of life for these individuals. World Mental Health Day is celebrated annually on October 10th.

Cancer by twenty one pilots

Turn away
If you could get me a drink
Of water 'cause my lips are chapped and faded
Call my aunt Marie
Help her gather all my things
And bury me in all my favorite colors
My sisters and my brothers, still
I will not kiss you
'Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you

I will not kiss you (kiss you)
Lips are chapped and faded Call my (turn away)
Lips are chapped and faded (faded)
Kiss you (kiss you)
Lips are chapped and faded
Call my (turn away)
Lips are chapped and faded (faded)

Turn away
'Cause I'm awful just to see
And all my hairs abandoned all my body
All my agony
Know that I will never marry
Baby, I'm just soggy from the chemo
I'm counting down the days to go
This just ain't livin'
And I just hope you know

I will not kiss you (kiss you)
Lips are chapped and faded
Call my (turn away)
Lips are chapped and faded (faded)
Kiss you (kiss you)
Lips are chapped and faded
Call my (turn away)
Lips are chapped and faded (faded)

If you say (if you say)
Goodbye today (goodbye today)
I'll ask you to be true (I'll ask you to be true)
'Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you
Yes, the hardest part of this

I will not kiss you (kiss you)
Lips are chapped and faded
Call my (call my)
Lips are chapped and faded (faded)
Kiss you (kiss you)
Lips are chapped and faded
Call my (call my)
Lips are chapped and faded (faded)

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Each year in the United States, more than 200,000 women get breast cancer and more than 40,000 women die from the disease.  Men also get breast cancer, but it is not very common. Less than 1% of breast cancers occur in men.  Most breast cancers are found in women who are 50 years old or older, but breast cancer also affects younger women. About 10% of all new cases of breast cancer in the United States are found in women younger than 45 years of age.

Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. Getting mammograms regularly can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer. The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends that if you are 50 to 74 years old, be sure to have a screening mammogram every two years. If you are 40 to 49 years old, talk to your doctor about when to start and how often to get a screening mammogram.

Source: www.cdc.gov/cancer/dcpc/resources/features/breastcancerawareness/

So be sure to get regular breast cancer screening to find breast cancer early, when it is most likely to be curable.
