Sunday Stealing: Thanksgiving Questions

Sunday Stealing for this week borrowed from the Huffington Post.

1. What did you do for Thanksgiving when you were a kid?

Ate a big meal around lunchtime at home, then spent the rest of the day visiting relatives.

2 .What’s your favorite family tradition?

Going to various family members homes and eating pie at each house we went to.

3. What’s your favorite way to give back and help others?

I donate to various charities.

4. Name one person who can make you laugh, even months later. Why?

A friend from back home....someone that I think of as a brother.  He did some crazy things as we were growing up.

5. What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past?

Nothing I can think of.

6. Do you have any unusual traditions, rituals or habits around Thanksgiving?

I do not have any unusual traditions, rituals or habits related to Thanksgiving. 

7. What time do you eat your Thanksgiving meal?

Usually after Noon, around 1:00PM.

8. Name one ancestor that you think about on Thanksgiving and tell us why.

I think about my Grandpa Henson.  I miss the stories he told us of the good old days.

9. Is there a family heirloom at the Thanksgiving table? What its story?

I do not have a family heirloom for the Thanksgiving table. 

10. What is your favorite part about Thanksgiving Day?

Taking a nap after eating a lot of food.

11. What is something that was done for you this year that makes you grateful this Thanksgiving?

My in-laws moved 95% of my stuff to my new house, and cleaned up the old house.  Words cannot express how thankful I am for them.

12. What foods do you usually have for Thanksgiving?

Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn, rolls, cranberry sauce, mashed Potatoes, gravy, yams, pickles, olives, and pumpkin pie.

13. How has the celebration of Thanksgiving today changed from when you were little?

Very much so.

14. If you could share Thanksgiving dinner today with one person in history who would it be? Why? 

I would like to share Thanksgiving dinner with Grandma Henson.  She died when I was 11 years old and I didn't get the chance to really know her.

15. What is one wish you have for the next generation as they begin to establish their own Thanksgiving traditions?

I wish they are more kind to those around them.
