Sunday Stealing: Thought Provoking Questions

 https://sundaystealing.blogspot.com/
This week's Sunday Stealing questions were suggested by Markandangel.

If you could instill one piece of advice in a newborn baby’s mind, what advice would you give? Be yourself and don't let anyone hold you back.

What is the most desirable trait another person can possess? Kindness

What are you most grateful for? My children, my dogs, my family and more.

Is stealing to feed a starving child wrong? Stealing is wrong. There are many ways to get help to feed a starving child.

What do you want most? Peace of mind

Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things? Doing things right

What has life taught you recently?  Life has taught me (once again) that everyone does not have the same work ethics.

What is the one thing you would most like to change about the world? I wish all the abuse in the world would go away.

Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration in the hope that one day I will wake up and it will all be different.  I am 48 and still have that hope.

Can you describe your life in a six word sentence? I am still standing, but barely.

If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? Mistakes can lead to pain in some form or another.  Some people do not want to deal with the pain it may cause them or deal with the pain the mistake causes others.

What impact do you want to leave on the world? I am not sure.

What is the most defining moment of your life thus far? The death of my son.

In the haste of your daily life, what are you not seeing? I am not seeing my family.

If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? We get tunnel vision and can't see what is around or at the end of that tunnel.

What lifts your spirits when life gets you down? Seeing how happy my dog is when I get home.

Have you ever regretted something you did not say or do? Yes, many times.

Has your greatest fear ever come true?  Yes.

Why do we think of others the most when they’re gone? We think about others the most when they are gone because sometimes that is the only thing we have left.

What is your most beloved childhood memory? Sitting on my grandparent's porch listening to all the adults talking about the good old days.

We will remember every family that lives in grief.
We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children.”

September: Leukemia Awareness Month

On March 10, 2016 at 2:40AM, my son...
my handsome, loving, kind, caring and wonderful son, passed away.
Acute Myeloid Leukemia ripped him from this world at the age of 23.
Very first photo of Colt in 1992.
I really did think Colt would beat cancer and that he would be here for many more years.  But no, cancer decided it wanted to win...and it won in 31 days.

Colt died only 31 days after being diagnosed.
31 DAYS!

All the medical technology and medicine and treatments could not save him.
I feel the doctors gave us false hope and that makes me angry.
Very last photo of Colt, 9 March 2016
I knew that leukemia would kill him, someday but not 31 days after being diagnosed.

I miss Colt so much.
The pain of losing him is so deeper than anything I have ever felt. There are no words to even begin to describe how I feel.  A large piece of my heart and soul died in Dallas when Colt passed. I am so very sorry I did not get there in time to say good bye...regret and guilt eat me alive some days.

Every day life is hard without Colt.  I miss his wonderful smile and his laugh. I miss hearing him say "Hi Mama".  I miss talking to him and I miss hearing his voice. I miss hearing "I love Mama!".  I miss the "good morning", "good night" and "I miss you Mama", text.
Hell I miss everything about my precious son.

Most days, I feel like a robot, just going through the motions of each day.
I do my best stay busy to keep the overwhelming emotions from taking me over.
My heart and soul ache to the core.

Colt is now home with me.
