Blogging From A to Z: A is For Adopt! Don't Shop

Photobucket Welcome to Day One of "Blogging from A to Z"!  You can read more about this challenge at www.a-to-zchallenge.com/p/what-is-blogging-from-to-z.html

Today we begin with the letter "A".   For my "A" post I am posting five reasons to Adopt (Don't Shop) for a pet.

You will save a life.
You will get a healthy pet.
You will save money by adopting.
You will not be supporting puppy mills.
You will receive unconditional love from  your pet.

  1. We have several pets (dogs and cats)we have taken in. They have either been strays or we have stumbled across the pet in an unsual way (we got our pit bull Sophie when a guy was giving her away at a flea market when she was only 10 weeks old) We give them all the love and care we can. All are loving, healthy and gentle. So yes I so agree with you. Getting them at the pound or taking in a stray is so much better than buying. Maybe if everyone does this then maybe it would force the puppy mills to close. One can dream. Oh btw I am from the A to Z challenge and am now following you.

  2. Wonderful post Shay! Adoption first is always best! Our first 2 dogs came from a no-kill shelter in Texas when they were babies. The other from a friend who had a litter and I tried looking for a bunny around here but there never were any available for adoption and incase anyone wonders I live in Japan and we do have a pet adoption place called PAWS on base but they usually only have cats.

  3. Great post. I wish I could adopt. My boyfriend and I are pet free because we lack the time and money to care for any pets. My sweet kitty, that I adopted when I was 12, lives with my parents. Sigh. Maybe I'll visit her today . . . and my parents, of course :-)

  4. Fantastic! I'm happy to see that you spotlighted this.

My furry child was adopted from the local humane society. Unfortunately, he had parvo! Luckily, the humane society offered FREE insurance for the first 30 days, so we were able to afford the expensive treatment. Luckier still, he actually survived!

He is now a 95lb. 3 year old, who is darn near perfect - Blessed to have found him :)
