Heads or Tails: Summer Memory

TAILS - Share a Summertime memory

We lived next door to my grandparents (my mom's parents) as we were growing up. I looked forward to Grandma and Grandpa hosting Fish Fry's each summer...especially since we always had home made ice cream! YUMMY! All the grand-kids (me included) would stand in line for our turn to crank the ice cream maker. Back then it was an honor to turn that crank! LOL Now it is hard and has turned into a chore. Thank goodness for electric ice cream makers!

  1. What a great memory of making ice cream. I remember that we only used the ice cream maker at family get-togethers. It was definitely a treat.

  2. What a fun memory! I am still trying to get my hubby to let me get an ice cream maker, an electric one.

  3. Ooh ooh! Did you also get to white-wash the fence? *giggle* But, yeah... chores like that seem so exciting when we're children, don't they? What a lovely memory. And, *sigh*... a fish fry sounds pretty awesome. Maybe I'll head out to Georgetown for some of the world's best catfish later this week.

When I saw this week's prompt for HoT, I went looking... it seems I don't have any sandy-beach pics. *confused* But yours are so cute! I love the Kiddo with her little bonnet on! I want a daughter, and the more I look at other peoples' little girls, the more I come to think that the reason I want one is so I can dress her up. *chuckle*

    Happy Hot!

  4. Yikes! How did I get that copied? Um... ignore the second paragraph. I was visiting someone else and accidentally copied my comment to my clipboard, I guess. *blushes deep red* I'm so embarrassed!

  10. My parents always did this too! And our kids would just LOVE to help make the ice cream with the rock salt and the cranking and everything about it.

    Great memory.

Mine is shared. Stop by if you can. But warning, it's a bit different than what you'd probably expect for a summer memory.

  17. What a fun memory! I used to love to make home-made ice cream with a hand-crank machine and used to do it a couple of times a year with my students on special occasions too. There’s nothing quite like it is there?
    Hugs and blessings,
